...although "Sleepaway Camp" has garnished a more than respectable cult following, much like the recently-released-on-DVD '80's similarly camp-sited horror shocker, "The Burning", the film unfortunately has been undeservedly relegated by general audiences, as a "Friday the 13th" knock-off...

...actually, "Sleepaway Camp" definitely stands on it's own terms, as a campy(!), darkly-humored tongue-in-cheek revenge thriller (...ah, yeah...right!!!)

...O.K., O.K., so what, if the killer in this gruesome little excursion into terror, is a psychopathic little girl with...uh, something extra; hey, she was deservedly offing some of the eclectically colorful, cruel and nasty pieces of social garbage at that camp...and I say, "good for her...uh, him...er, it(?)". Despite the oh-so twisted and depraved ending, one usually ends up clearly rooting for the unfortunate Angela...

...followed by two amusingly pat, but ultimately negligible sequels, the growing cult interest in "Sleepaway Camp" HAS bore much interest of late, in returning to the campy grass roots of the original film; a sequel, entitled "Sleepaway Camp IV: The Survivor", regrettably never got passed pre-production footage, and was never completed. However, the fully completed, yet still unreleased fifth chapter in the series, entitled "Return to Sleepaway Camp", reportedly continues Angela's bloody psychopathic activities, and the proposed sixth chapter, "Sleepaway Camp Reunion" not only sees the return of Angela, but also her/his/it's brother, as well as the long-awaited return of Angela's wildly eccentric and mentally unstable aunt...

...to this, I say...WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR??? GET THESE FILMS OUT THERE, FOR US LOYAL AND DEPRAVED FANS OF THE CLASSIC ORIGINAL FILM!!!
