The disadvantages to comparing yourself to others is that it makes you lose perspective on why it is that YOU are important or special or unique.
Every individual is unique and therefore has very unique things to offer. The scale of if someone has an A or you have a B in something is just one scale. Maybe you have a better grasp at a deeper level of the subject and they are just better memorizers - you never know!
Such is the danger of comparison. The answers it gives are usually true on a very narrow level but not the larger sense. You don't want to miss the forest for the trees.

Becasue theres always someone better than you in every area of life. If you do this constantly, you will forget that you are still a good person at (fill it in). The dude down the street that is so buff hecan throw a car may have the smallest you know what on earth, and at the same time could be the biggest dick in the world (ironicly). You have to see that others have pitfalls also, or you could seriously hurt your self doing this.

With whom are you comparing yourself? With a better person you feel sad. With a lesser person you feel good. Choose!
Comparing with a better person if it inspires you to try to be a better person ... then what is the harm. But don't make it a habit and go on comparing yourself with every Tom, Dick and Harry. It seems you are already doing that.
You must try to stop doing that because it is firmly establishing already existing inferiority complex in you. You must be comparing yourself with people those are better than you are, in some way or the other.

Everyone makes some comparisons. This becomes problematic if ones sense of self worth is tied up only in comparisons. To find life meaningful one must find the good they can do for others. Find a way to make a difference in peoples lives. When that becomes ones focus making comparisons does not seem important.

Seriously bro, be yourself. Who cares what other people think? You shouldn't. If you are happy then you are in a good place.
It's self destructive to compare yourself to others. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own talents. Don't ever feel "less then" because you think you are inferior to someone. You rule! Do the Deep Thoughts thing and tell yourself how great you are.
And believe it or not, someone is probably comparing them self to you and wishing they had something you have. Life is too short to worry about other people.
Live large amigo.

It was said that -if every one puts all their problems on table and you put all your problems on table --u will take back yours becuz you will realize everybody got worsen you do.
u getta be satisfied with what you have --the success to this world is being happy with what you have --and not wanting what you don't have. alot of today's problems and stress come from ppl never satisfied with their accomplishments, stuff --
if you have shoes there ppl who walk barefoot--if you ate breakfast there are those who didn't eat anything a week. just be grateful or you will live a very miserable life --and committ suicide if u always want more and more and can't have it!

There aren't any advantages. As Gary Snider said to Jack Kerouac, "Comparisons are odious Jack". Comparisons are meaningless. You are a unique person. There is no comparison.

Egotism. If you can learn to think of it in the positive way. Comparing yourself to others is the product of low self-esteem, self-respect, or ego. Don't look at others in self-abusing admiration, see them as they are, just another person. Perhaps another person endowed with shallow gifts, but once again just another person.

Its human nature to do that. We all do it. But, you have to remember that all people are different and do things differently, thats what makes living interesting. All I can suggest is be the best person that you can be, do your best at everything that you do and like yourself for what you are, faults and all. Its not easy sometimes, but what you do, think and feel is what makes you, you.
