My keyboard suddenly stopped working?
My keyboard (ps/2) suddenly stopped to work. I had no issues with my computer. What I recall is the "shift" key got pressed for sometime then it said to do something with sticky keys which I am not sure what I did. I rebooted my computer and my keyboard wont work. I checked device manger which seems to be fine for keyboard, I did uninstall & reinstall of drivers, still its the same. I tried my friends keyboard that wont work either so its not the keyboard I guess. I got a new usb keyboard that is not working either, my usb mouse works fine with usb port and also ps/2 port when i use usb to ps2 adapter. The Num lock is lit on my keyboard but wont go off.

One of my friend told me motherboard is faulty

I am not sure what to do....CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP

Been there. Done that.
Easily fixed.

Start
Settings
Control Panel
Accessibility Options
if there is a checkmark in front of 'sticky keys' click to clear it

You may find your keyboard automatically restored next time you power on. If memory serves, these sticky keys only last about 5 minutes. They scare us but are a big help for the handicapped.

Look at this:

try pressing shift key five times continously.normally it turns on Sticky keys.Sticky keys lets you use the SHIFT ,CTRL,ALT or Windows logo keys by pressing one key at a time.

To check wether your keyboard is connected to PC check if LED of CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK turn on whenever you press these keys.
or reboot your PC and concentrate on these three LEDs.They must glow for a second all the three.if no then there is something wrong.Consult a technician

your Filter Keys may be enabled. try pressing Shift for 5 times to bring up the Sticky Keys dialog box. you might also open the accesibility options in the control panel. it's just the same. click settings and look for Filter Keys. uncheck the box that says Use Filter Keys. click ok for the changes to take effect.

hope that helps...

This happened to me also...the purpose of sticky keys if for people that are constantly hitting the wrong keys. Hold down a key and see if it will work then, it should, to take it off you should hold down shift it think it is... and how are you typing this with a faulty keyboard

hiii dear

when u boot the system chek whether the keyboard lights blink or not...if it doesnt blink then problem is with ur keyboard connection but if it blinks then chek ur filter key and stick key options...before cheking the stick keys option firstly chek by pressing numblock button whether light respond or not if light respond then surely problem is with ur stick keys and filter keys option..

i have no idea, but sometimes when i am typing too fast and I hit something... my keyboard freezes. it won't type anything, and then I hit SHIFT and CTRL keys at the same time, and it unlocks it.

probably totally different, but that's just the trick with mine.
