Example, I just saw the end of this one episode of the Simpsons where Homer tells Marge that he was made a "free-lance consultant", because Mr. Burns only gave health insurance to full time employees. Then he says "What's this lump?"...

I really don't find anything funny about this, because inability to get good insurance is a problem for many Americans and if one of them wind up seriously ill, it is highly likely their lack of coverage will cause them to die.

Other examples include when shows like South Park make fun of the disabled and such. Should there be laws against this type of insensitivity? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. This is an example of free speech, if we limit the things that offend us where does it stop? What is offensive to me may not be offensive to you and vice versa... so who would monitor what people say? The government? A new federal agency to make sure no one breaks these new laws?

No... not good.

Please define what a "vulnerable group" is?

Life sucks...wear a cup.

You are what you are...many people have difficulty accepting this. I'm not saying that people shouldn't be compassionate and empathetic towards people with "challenges", but by the same token, they shouldn't be coddled either.

One of my sons' friends had a motorcycle accident and received a C5 spinal injury. He's paralyzed from the chest down. he has accepted his fate and realizes that there are things he will never be able to do, bur he is making the best of his remaining abilities. He makes fun of himself, even though (and especially because) it makes other people uncomfortable. He has an 'old-school' American thick skin, unlike others of his generation expecting people to feel sorry for him and give him a break because of his "disability".

Face it, there are people in the world that shows like South Park and Family Guy make fun of...but they're also making fun of the people that are cruel and insensitive...you simply don't choose to see it that way.

No, there are enough laws on the books because of people trying to "protect" the "innocent". If you want laws like that on the books, why not just rewrithe the entire Constitution from the "special interest" point of view. Then all we'll have left is sterile, sanctimonious Big Brother media.

BTW - If you're easily offended by these programs, handicapped or not, change the channel, or are you a self-appointed watchdog of some sort?

I agrees that making fun of the disables are just childish and not funny at all (unless one have a sick sense of humor)

I think it's a way of social commentary done in a funny way. I see no harm in it.

Free speech.
