What kind of information are you looking for? There's a lot of detail about the Sims games. I'll give you info about Pets, but it's best to check out the Sims2 website for the most information.
You can have dogs and cats, you can choose their colors, fur styles, the size of the animals, and the breed (what type they are). The dogs and cats are fully customizable.
You CANNOT control dogs and cats (unless you use a cheat).
Yes, there are other pets you can have, a bird and a womrat (guinea pig). There's nothing much you can do with them except feed them, play with them, clean their cages, and release them. That's it.

Sims 2 pets is just like the original sims 2, except you have pets. You get to make your own person still, and you get to make your animal. It can be a cat or dog. You still have jobs and you can get pet points by completing the needs and wants of your pet. You can get a hamster or a goldfish by going to the town square and buying them in the store with the giant goldfish on top. You can get married, make someone move out a house, have enemies and friends, and you can make your own house. Right now it only costs about 19.99 or you can get it for 17.99 used.

OMG!! ihave this game. it is the suckiest, most uninteresting, and unworth the $30 game. pleez don't get it.
the pets are soo unfun, u can't play as them and its hard to get a relationship with them. there are very little interactions between sims and pets. there are no new neighborhoods, clothes, hair or makeup in the game. :(
there is some new "atomic" style modern furniture but i don't like it cuz its all metallic and some look really tacky. the pets actually really ugly and look fat. they run away from u all the time if u don't feed them once and destroy ur furniture and gardens. pleez don't get it. i recommend, nightlife, seasons, OFB and bon voyage. they add so much more substance and have neighborhoods, community lots, hair, clothes, new interactions, new characters... etc.

in pet for the sims 2 PC you can have cats dogs, guinea pigs & parrots the dog have free will and do as they'll like accept if you use a cheat code wich this page has www.gamefaqs.com
the dogs & cats can have jobs and when they work you'll unlock things for the pets.....
nothing more to pets oh yeah almost forgot you can become a wearwolf if you get bitten buy a wolf!
