I am lazy, and just from a physical point of view, smiling is so much easier than frowning. You need to use more muscles to frown than to smile. And frowning etches lots of lines on your face. Besides, there are many more reasons to smile, you just have to start seeing them. And just out of gratitude, you should be smiling all the time. When you look back and see how many more persons are much worse than you are. You will start smiling more.
I was talking to a guy that lives in a house that's falling on him. He does not have a job, or furniture. He only possesses a bed, two chairs, a microwave and a small, and I mean small refrigerator. When I asked him how was he feeling, he started answering so.. so.. and then he said "not really, I feel good because there are people in this world that would kill for what I have". And then he smiled at me. That man and people like him, keeps me smiling.

I am one of the many lucky people who was born with a sense of humor. I can see the funny or certainly the RIDICULOUS in any situation. I have nurtured this ability. I truly believe that laughter is THE best medicine. As I grow older it seems to come even easier to find LOL humor in the human comedy. You can either choose to laugh or cry. Don't take yourself too seriously and REALLY don't take anyone ELSE seriously AT ALL and pretty soon you will start to smile, then giggle, then laugh then guffaw and slap you thigh over all of the people who take themselves WAY too seriously. At the worst life on this planet is a cosmic accident and NOTHING means ANYTHING. At the best there is some sort of divine plan, it will all turn out alright, and our perception of our importance in it all is WAY overrated.

Knowing that the glass is really half full, not half empty. As the optimistic way of looking at it. There so much to be happy about. Just the fact that your alive!!! And that you have the chance to be whoever you want to be! I've never considered myself depressed once in my life. Sad, of course! But i KNOW i can always overcome it no matter what. And THAT is what keeps me smiling.

I let go of the bad stuff that makes me frown. I have no control over those.
The things that makes us smile are all around us If we pay attention to them, their beauty and awesome powers of regrowth and rebirth lift out hearts and minds by sheer power of example.
You, me, us- we shall overcome. so...
