the windows 98 wont start normal but will go in to safe mode . can i download a start up disk on the xp computer hook the two together and istall the start up disk in to the 98 one as the floppy wont work or the cd so i cant use a start up disk will this work

It would be quicker and easier to "borrow " thee floppy drive from old PC, make disc, return drive, use it

You can do as they said, 'borrow' the floppy. Why do you need to hook them up?? Is there files and stuff on the 98 you want?? If so, then slave the 98 hard drive to the XP and that's that. Just make the jumpers on the 98 hard drive set to slave.

if you mean by firewire, it might be possible but there might be version issues between 98 and xp
