well led for one is so dense, x-rays and most other radiation cannot go through it.

in water- salt water is the densest water

http://chemistry.about.com/od/elementfacts/a/elementdensity.htm here is a list of elements from lowest to highest densities hope this helps.

Apart from neutron stars, the elements of highest density on earth are things like Tungstan, uranium and other high-atomic number elements. Generally the higher you go on the periodic table, the denser things are, but there are special cases like Tungstan with exceptionally high density.

Want dense? How about a neutron star? That's a star whose nuclear fuel has run out and the star has collapsed under its own gravity. Kinda like packing a snowball. So much matter has been compressed so tightly that 1 teaspoonful of its matter would weigh 20 billion tons here on earth. That's 40,000,000,000,000 pounds. Of course, its weight would cause it to sink down to the core of the planet. If you could step out onto its surface, the gravity would crush you down to 1/100th the thickness of a sheet of paper. Then there are black holes...

Osmium is fairly dense.
Lead is spelt L-E-A-D
Granite is actually one of the lighter rocks, try something like dolomite (2.98g/cc)
metals are dense, depleted uranium is used in tank shells because of its high density (it's depleted in the sense that all the nuclear fuel (isotope) is spent from it)
