Hes a first year visiting assistant professor fresh out of school. Hes adorable. Hes only a few years older then me (I'm a "non-traditional student, age 25)
Has anyone else had this problem? When I talk to him about assignments he blushes and looks down and talks. How do I deal???

Let's see; he's an adult, you're an adult, adults sometimes get attracted -- easy enough there.

He's the teacher in a class you're in -- that could be a problem. It's probably against the rules and could have him fired. Check the rules at your college and make sure that faculty are allowed to date students (who aren't in their class) at all. If so, move forward. If not, let it go. Different schools have different rules.

This is a bit of a scary situation. If I were you, I'd stay away--maybe even transfer to another class or something. Student/teacher relationships are definitely not wise. I feel the same way about employer/employee relationships. It wouldn't be so bad if you were graduating or at least no longer his student and you had a relationship going on, but if you're gonna be there for awhile, you shouldn't start anything. You get involved with him and you're in for gossip and criticism. Plus, what if he gets in trouble for fooling around with a student? It could happen, you know. You don't want to open a Pandora's box that could hurt you and him. Tread carefully.

If you are serious about your education, request a transfer to another class. An affair with a professor could ruin your life and his. After the transfer, it's not a problem to hook up if you can work it out. Once the "conflict of interest" is overcome, what two people do is their own business.

Yes, I've had crushes on my professors. They know that you notice them, but because of their role as your professor, they'd like to keep it on a professional level or else they'll cross the line...things will be complicated for them. :D Good luck. If the guy is not married, you can ask him out for coffee only after you are no longer his student.

It it's not distracting you too much, or it even motivates you to study more and learn, well and good. Youl can always hook with him once you finish the course. Besides, transferring might give him a different impression. You, go girl!!
