I stuck up for a new girl that was being picked on in 4th grade and we are friends to this day....15 years later!

I've had only two opportunities to do so, and did. One guy stood up as if to say "what are you going to do about it." He was quite a bit taller than me, but I kept a poker face and stood up next to him and stared him down. His friends started laughing because I was obviously at a disadvantage... but he sat back down and didn't say anything else to the kid he was picking on.
I think people like to be jerks to make themselves feel big, but they certainly wouldn't want to fight for the right to call people names.

I always stand up for the defenseless though I'm still peeved off some homosexuals on some site didn't thank me for standing up for them against a homophobe.
