I was watching a documentary about it...also the russians or soviets also committed horrific atrocites also..my latvian friend Yuri who is 65 years old told me...

Because the Empirical Emperor at that time was treated like he was a God, and all those atrocities were the result of the masses being mislead - then the A-Bombs actually ended the war. Saw the same documentary and if I remember the one I saw showed all the prisoners of war that were merciless beat-ed , shot ,whipped, starved and only were discovered by mistake when an American ship stopped a Japanese sub, thinking they were transporting weapons, when in fact they were transporting POW's and only then did the horrors of the Japanese were revealed about building all the bridges over rivers so they could transport more supplies to their troops.....

I'm sure americans have committed atrocities as well(remeber we just about exterminated all the Native born Americans during the indian war) not to mention the other atrocities that DID NOT GET REPORTED!

It was their historical Samurai traditions. They believed in dying rather than ever surrendering. It is partly why they looked upon POW's with such disdain. They were strictly adhering to the code of the Samurai.
America, on the other hand followed a code best described by General George Patton, "Your job is not to die for your country but rather to see to it that the other poor bastard dies for his country."

They just thought they were bad @ss ...Then they somehow got the foolish notion to " pop a clutch " at America , and they did cause a big loss , but we fought back and they knew they had screwed up , and we went on and blew them two new atomic @ssholes when it was all said ,and done .....

Its really sad how some humans have no problems treating another like that. Don't forget the Germans. Lets face it at some point in time every group of peoples have behaved like this to another group.
