For instance in Jr. Pacman I want to always have the hyperspeed setting enabled rather than enabling it each time I play. It saves my dip switch settings between plays but not my cheat settings. The emulator version is on Linux if that makes a difference.

The older versions of MAME had a add on program that allowed to to save high scores, cheats and such. The newer version have added such things to some games but not all and many have bugs. I don't know of any fixes for any right this moment.

Mame is a game emulator which let users to play arcade games in their PC. It is actually an acronym for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.
It's the best game.
