I WAS a nurse. I am retired now.
I wanted to be a nurse from the time I was three years old. My mother told me that I pulled around my red wagon and had bandaids and bactine there to take care of the neighbor children.
It was as if my soul and spirit dictated that I was to be a nurse.
If I come across anyone hurt - I instantly become the nurse.
I like to help people, rescue them, assist them, help them bring new life in to the world and be a comfort when they leave this world.
If I go into a hospital to visit someone- I can feel the nurse in me.
It is part of me and always will be. I felt fullfiled and appreciated. I made a difference in people's lives.
It is part of who I am.
I did a variety of nursing from; OB to psychirity- elderly & hospital work.
OB was my favorite.
I loved teaching patients things that would help them. I also loved working with the new mothers and their babies.

All of this is why I wanted to be a nurse

I am a nurse.
It's a rewarding career but most of the mistakes nurses make when getting into it is doing it for the money. Granted the money is pretty good, but sometimes not worth the hard days if you don't enjoy the job in the first place.

You have to have a passion for helping others and the specific area of nursing that you hope to pusue.

I wanted to be a nurse because I like knowing that I can make a difference in someone's life because of the time and effort I put into school.

Even if I worked in a section where most of the patients were terminally ill, it would be rewarding to try and bring them comfort and a smile in their last days.

P.S. CNAs are NOT nurses. CNAs are nurses assistance and yes their jobs suck but their job isn't real nursing.

ive wanted to be a nurse since i was little.
i was born with spina bifida and feel its time for me to repay the nurses as it were.
unfortunately the government claims we make enough to put me through college but what they never figure in is debt the person is already in
i also figure if i was a nurse i could help out with my families debt

I don't!! I am a CNA I do stay home with the kids now. Its a job you do if you truly want to be a nurse because for the high stress the pay sucks! Most are over worked and burn out rather quickly!

Everyone has their own interest and career goals.
Nurses tend to have a genuine caring and concerned spirit for others.
Perhaps you need to find a career that suits you, too.
