1.Hateful attitude towards the world and the person posting the question. So what if they had a bad day. They could have just skipped over this question & found something to vote on instead.
2. Giving an answer that does not pertain to the question.
For example: Am I too hard on people?
If someone answers this by saying something way out in left field like : "Well, my bff died and all I have his dog."
My first reaction is thumbs-down you moron.
3. Answers that just tell folks to look it up, not everyone knows how to look up stuff on the computer.
I have no objections to people telling these kids to do their own homework. No one did mine, when I was in school.
4. Sexually explicit answers that are uncalled for.
5. I hate spam, even the junk that's supposed to be edible.

1. Spam.

2. I think the person is a total ****head.

3. Being abusive to the questioner and other answerers.

4. Not a real answer.

5. Something who goes " What?" when the question was pretty damn straight forward and easy to understand.

6. Know- it-all's that are more like loser-all's.

7. People who think they are as funny as Will Ferrell when they're not.

8. Racism, Homophobics and other people who are seriously of a low I.Q.

I don't think you're too hard on people since I mostly agree with some of your statements, though some of the things you have stated I have yet to see for myself.

Excercise your right to give the thumbs down...how else can you make your thoughts be known? ....you make a lot of good points..... I do give thumbs down on a lot of those too...

But the main reason I will give a thumbs down is because if a question is silly or begs for an interesting or creative answer and a boring mundane answer is given....then that gets the thumbs down for me......

honestly, i don't give thumbs down too often. sometimes i give thumbs down for spam or being rude when they answer one my questions. i don't give people thumbs down on other questioner's answers. although, i will give fellow answerers thumbs up. frankly, i really hate the thumbs down option. too many people abuse it. i would rather do without it. just my opinion.
