This is my first time (mock trial) and I really want to learn how to make a closing argument (on behalf of the prosecution). I've looked it up online, but nothing helps. I would also like to know that if the defendant violated a state penal code, if it should be said that the prosecution charges (defendant) of violating (state penal code) and why, and evidence to back it up, in the closing argument. Also, overall, what should it be about? What should be in it? So if anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hon, were you at the trial? If so, then you know the important points to bring up to the jury. You want to re-tell the jury about those points. Yes, he had a gun and yes, he did discharge that gun in the city limits, yes he did strangle Mrs. Wambat with his large claw-like hands, etc. Just bring up the salient points and re-iterate that he is guilty as charged. Just a few points to get you started. Good luck.

Please don't be cheesy and recap what you've already gone over in court. Better, be thought provoking. Try and place your jury in the shoes of the victim and get them to see it from the perspective of someone other than the juror. Tell them a story either in relation to or in parable to the event. Do not preach to them. Be careful not to be lofty or long winded. Appeal to their sense of "Justice."
