Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

Yes, the job of being the "world's police force" fell into our lap after World War II and the virtual destruction of the European continent.
We never wanted the job and never asked for it, but there were still bad people around - VERY bad people, like Stalin and Mao - and somebody had to stop them. We've been doing it ever since, because no one else will. Why should they when the US is footing the bill with US taxpayer money?
And what do WE get? We get called fascists, imperialists, racists, war-mongers, the rogue nation, and all that. Sometimes I feel like we should just tell everyone to go ahead and kill themselves. Just keep us out of it.
Call France if you need the cops, we're keeping OUR money for OUR citizens from now on!

No, as for the Afghanistan/Iraq war, the US Military became the private army of the PNAC/MIC faction of our government who are in league with others in the world to rid all of the Middle east of Arab peoples and take all the resources and land for themselves. It's much more complicated than that but that's the gist of it, if these neocons didn't want war, we wouldn't be at war. As for going all over the world policing, it seems Blackwater was filling that niche until they got caught killing civilians for no reason. I am so glad they got caught finally. (A moment of silence for all they have killed)
Let's hope we can head toward disarmament of ALL countries, including the US, or, billions of people are going to die in the next decade at these warlords' hands, including our boys in the military.
We must stop weapons manufacture, uranium mining, and other industries that feed the machine. I don't care how much money they make off of those activities. They have to be stopped. New laws are in order.
Who shall make them?
Why, you YOUNG PEOPLE, of COURSE!

Only as far as the American Government, and the supporters of military might are concerned.
They are not the worlds police force, and have never been asked to be the worlds police force.
Actually they seem to be getting out of control, or at least their masters are.

No. Just the Iraqi's police force. There are not enough soldiers left to spread anywhere else. Meanwhile they have been charged with kicking down civilian doors like NYPD Blue and yelling "Freeze! US Army". Of course this is not the job they were trained to do.

That about wraps it up. Don't blame the military. They only follow orders. It's our politicians who put them in harms way and then not give them the tools they need to do the job and forget about them when they come home. Hug a vet.
