I'm watching the Democratic Candidates Debate
(I've lost about 20 I.Q. points so far...)
and all they can talk about is Gay this and Gay that...

This subject has no effect whatsoever on who I'd like to see elected into office in 2008...

Are Gay rights an important factor for you in the upcoming election?

Nope. Rights are rights regardless if gay, straight, black, asian, white, latino. These selfish groups that are only concerned about themselves are part of the problem and not a solution to the real issues at hand. So long as their little world is happy, who cares about what else goes on in the world. It's a me-first and who else is there attitude.

They do raise such a stink and voting turnout is so low that Democrats especially will focus on these people in hopes of gaining the entire group's support. They know if it's enough put them over the edge as far as votes, that as long as they keep those groups happy, they can then do whatever they want and the groups will not care as long as they aren't affected.

I'm not an American, but I am gay. However, even if I were an American, I am not and never have been a one-issue voter.

Gay rights, and specifically the issue of same-sex marriage, is a hot topic in America right now. (In Canada, it's a done deal, old news, no longer on the political radar.)

Acceptance of gay people, and their relationships, says something about a candidate's overall vision of the future of American society. It may mean that a candidate truly believes that "all men (and women) are created equal". Then again, it may simply mean that the candidate is a cynic and thinks he can win votes among lesbians and gays.

Gay rights are, and should be, only one of many issues facing voters in 2008. Amnesty for illegal aliens would be another one that I can think of off the top of my head. A third issue is a phaseout strategy for America's involvement in Iraq.

Voters should weigh the views of all candidates on all major issues, and then mark their X (or pull the lever) at the ballot box, as their conscience dictates. Only then is democracy well and truly served.

Yes it's very important that our country supports the rights of men to stick another man's penis in thier anus.

Lesbians too....with thier mullets, strap-ons & comfortable shoes.

I believe in gay rights. But, that wouldn't sway my vote by much.
