The lust for power regardless of the cover be it religion,geographic disadvantage,a slight of honor,or even economics all are symbols of power and when the power hungry are in positions of power war is close at hand.

Actually there are 2:
Greediness over resources & any materialistic advantage (including geographical locations)
Threat to identities (threat to ethnicity, religion, nationalism, etc)

Intolerance of our differences. The innate desire to show that when it comes to being different, my difference is better than yours. I suspect it comes down to self doubt and the belief that if I can beat you up, i must be right..Great for the animal kingdom...disastrous for mankind!

Fear * UNDERMINING....which is the start of any war.
ADD a male Ego..... and you have WAR.

Simply put, Manifest Destiny. Behind that term is "We deserve it all and they don't", our religion is better, our society is better.
