How about the Navajo from Arizona and New Mexico. They carried their babies in a cradle board on their back. Check the web site There are photos of what they look lie. I don't thinl it would hear to make one with cardboard and use yarn or string to lace it. The photos can be enlarged to see them better. This project would be neat since few people know what they look like or what they were used for.

If you would have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

To pick a tribe among the thousands of Indian Nations could be difficult basing it on what you know about it and what type artifacts you may create.

Among the most popular Nations are the Lakota (Sioux), Apache, Blackfeet, Comanche, Cherokee, Iroquois Confederacy (6 nations), Kiowa, Cheyenne, Shoshone--the lists goes on and on. Better yet, select a nation that lives or did live in your location.

Select a tribe and enter it in the Internet access and see what comes up.

Many tribes used medicine bags, small pouches of leather which were worn around the neck on a thong and which held objects that represented power to the individual - feathers, stones, bones, bits of fur, or almost anything.

Teepees are fun, but pretty tough to make. If you want to get adventurous, it's really not hard to chip an arrowhead from stone, but you did ask for something easy.

you might try to make a model of a pueblo. It's fairly easy to do out of clay. the Hopi, Navajo and Zuni peoples used to make communities out of them. Some are still being used, and the Spanish adopted the technique to build their housing (they called it adobe.) In prehistory various pueblos were found through out the southwest with the Anasazi being the most significant and mysterious.
hope this helps.

why dont you use rock art (pictographs) many tribes used these. Although it is not a proven fact why they drew these their are idea as to why they did such as....Enjoyment we draw today maybe it was something they did for entertainment/enjoyment. Maybe it was to tell a story, or to mark there territory. You could make your own pictograph and maybe make it into a story about something that is important to you or something you enjoy doing....you could draw your house that is your "territory" and maybe you enjoy being home...
