How old is my Red Eared Slider if its shell is 2 1/2 inches in length? Also...why is he eating his own poo????

Is there any kind of correlation between shell length and age?

it is this years baby, more than likely. make sure you clean his "poo" when you see it. the easiest way I have found is to use a turkey baster as a pooper scooper....just be sure to buy new for your turkey. they need fed daily at a young age and right now they are primarily meat eaters. so crickets, bloodworms, mealworms, small earthworms etc. also reptomin makes a good food stick that is pretty well balanced nutritionally for your little guy.

well red eared slidders tend to get quite bigg for there little size, yours is still just a young one

If you haven't had him long, he's probably a few months old. It can be difficult to tell how old reptiles are by size--poor care conditions can severely stunt their growth. Here's my fave RES website:
