My older and younger sisters both date African American men and ever since they started dating them, they have since started to drop who they were to act like they are African American as well. Is it bad of me to think that its rediculous and really dont want to be around them. Why should someone totally abandon their culture to make someone happy? I am Hispanic and I would NEVER abandon that to act Caucasian or any other race...

The big question you should ask yourself is "Do you dislike their boyfriends because they are bad for your sisters and make them act in a way that is not good for them". Or do you just dislike them because they're black?

Well, if you want to be anal, any preference of one racial culture over another could be called racism.

Back here in the real world as long as you avoid bombing churches or burning crosses, you're probably OK.

As for abandoning ones culture to make someone happy - happens ALL the time. Some little Asian hottie rocks your world, the chance of you winding up eating raw fish and rice with a side of green tea - pretty good.

Good Luck

Your not a racist, you are a sister that wonders why girls act so stupid over guys, that will be gone in a year. What your sisters don't get is that the boys liked them for who they where, not who they think the boys want them to be. That's the problem with most people they become someone else to make everybody else happy, and loss their identity.

You mold who you are based on how much you let your surroundings influence you. I guess they are doing that more soo than what they should. It will probably pass, but don't stop hanging around them because of that. I know your culture is important and I'm sure they have love for it too. Just wait it out..l..as far as being racists. I dont't think so unless you are saying that your better than African Americans

haha ... that's funny. How old are your sisters? my brother was like that in High school. We grew out of it ... all is good now, he acts white again.

I don't think ur racist at all ... i don't have anything against the other cultures ... u just simply think that your sisters should act who they are and who they are not. It's normal I guess ... especially if they're younger. They just wanna impress the boyz.

I say let them unless they're in there mid 20's then giv'em a b*tch slap and tell them to smartin up :-)

I don't think your racist. They call white folks that act black wiggers. What do they call Hispanics that act black? Why can the girls appreciate the qualities of their African American boyfriends without giving up their own identities?

I didnt thhink there was an acting way for caucasians, snotty, anal retentive and such stereotypes as that. I say embrace other cultures and embrace your own. love who you are, and love others. it is slightly racist though, maybe your sisters are trying the whole, trying to fit in with the crowd thing.

You must be dear bacause you are so pissed off with your sisters choices. Don't let it bother you, you have the right to pick somone of your kind. Learn to accept that life and love have many colors. It is for you to decide which one or who you want.
