As a ASCAP 4 X's Award winning Songwriterwriter I find it even harder to get my works out to the Public. Everything costs so much now days and I believe people don't understand what it takes in work and so on to be heard and backed.

The problem is nobody's buying art these days. They all want the same club sound, or a poppish country sound. The lyrics to a great country song can get lost in the shuffle.

I wish people would stop buying albums from bimbos and really listen to what's going down.

BTW, please send me via E-mail the list of songs you won awards for. I am a former country broadcaster and more recently a karaoke host, and I want to tie that piece of history into things.

Thanks.

Because sometimes it's not about how good you are or how many awards you've won so much as it is about who you know. While the artists can be more open to hearing ideas and new music from people off the beaten path and not mainstream, sometimes the people pitching the songs to the talent have a very narrow minded approach to what is being presented. They have an image that they feel the talent should fit and only seek out the songs that fit that image. Doesn't matter how good you may be or if your song could be that next 'smash hit' for Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Rodney Atkins, etc. Comes down to connections.

Oh wow, I know what you mean! I believe there is so much competition and if your music is Pure country you need to go to the older generation of singers.. Most of the new singers I stop and say Do what? That isnt even country... Murder on music Row

that's because you aren't pitching your material to the right people. Try Vince Gill or Martina McBride.
