It seems like every day someone asks the same question about 'What Is The Meaning Of Life?'

If they would go back and read the answers to the hundred other same questions asked they would have thousands of replies to chose from.

How likely is it that one of us will come up with a reply that hasn't been already expressed?

So what is the underlying meaning behind so many people so often asking the same question? It's the same with many other topics. Like in the 'Painting' section of Yahoo Answers every other day someone will ask 'What's Your Favorite Color?'

So, why are the same questions asked so often?

(Take this question in jest, people! I'm just playing with words here.)

My opinion? People ask questions that have no answers, (because there's no definitive answer to the question), & looking at other answers wouldn't help. "Why am I here"? "What is my purpose"? Hello?
I haven't quite determined the reason for the "What's your favourite colour"? sort of question. Everyone will answer that! Two points for "red," two points for ONE word. Wow. Certainly doesn't serve the asker. Maybe they're just lonely?
What a curious community!

For some of these people, I think that sitting down and writing the question is therapeutic. The question suddenly became important for some reason and had to be actively pursued and not just passively researched.

Our human capacity to shield ourselves through self deception from a meaningless existence is sometimes weakened and it is most disturbing, even frightening, when we actually confront such a situation.

How wonderful it is to have some perspective, dear. After constantly asking yourself what direction your life is going, doesn't it feel great to finally feel as if you know? How very wise you are! Yet all this recent wisdom is exhausting. You feel as though you've made a long trip up to the mountaintop to speak with the learned wise person at the top. Now that you're back down in civilization, it's time to find a soft bed and relax for a bit.

The question is asked continuously because many people fear death. They are looking for an answer that will give them security and a reason to believe that their life matters.

Or, if the question is answered enough times, the reasons will evolve.
Its like when you get something off your chest, the next thing is there waiting.
