You're part of what will be. You can do things to change it, even if what you do is caused deterministically by other things.

Yes, we do have a choice. We can re-design ourselves and live in the present... let go of the past because that is over (unless you just put a ball through the neighbor's window, better take care of that; or have a sudden desire to talk over old times with an old friend).. and go for full awareness of what surrounds us right now.
Then our future, which really is a great unknown, can be spent making the present more comfortable, or asking a good friend to share it with us, or deciding to work on the unfinished story... for many present moments melt into the future in some way.
So, making even a few moments isolated enough to be purely aware of them, and of the enjoyment to be had in just fully noticing a moment in all it's present glory is, though difficult, well worth it! To feel resignation in regards to "what will be"? Never! The future has too many facets for resignation.
Go towards it happily... or as they used to say,
Take it easy, but take it!--

No! We have the power to change things in our lives. We just say whatever will be will be when we have failed to find the solution. We do not have to accept that...we put ourselves in each journey we are on by the choices we have made, therefore, we can make the choices to get ourselves out of it.

it depends , on the subject, many things you do have a direct choice about, others you have an indirect influence on, and very few you have only the choice of how you will react to it
a hurricane hits your home, you had a choice to live in that area or not, or to leave when one is coming, a dam breaks during a storm and floods your home, you had a choice to check on the dams condition, require your city to protect /build it up , etc, so you could of had an indirect impact on the outcome,,,,,, a tornado hits your home, nothing you could of done!

only if you CHOOSE...and want to stop growing. life is all about learning lessons. you master one and then another comes and another and another. it's about growing and learning. either way, you will always be given an option. the path you choose will ultimately lead to another choice and so on. kinda like those "choose your own adventure" books. if you want to sit back and wait for things to happen, then you'd probably think that statement to be true.

there is a line of thinking that says we are aware before birth of our rough life plan, but we lose our awareness of it once we are born..add to this the fact that variables are allowed to occur..so you can never be sure, and perhaps that's the best way or maybe we wouldn't ever do anything
