of that at the very least, and that is a serious crime in any civilised country. Please lets not have the social services backing off because off the media attention/fame of the mccan 2,if it were a black couple in London they would have had the other kids removed by now-whats source for the goose is source for the gander.

Throughout this whole case the McCanns have tried to suggest that their child neglect was somehow incidental to their child going missing whereas it is the major cause.
I don't believe for one moment there was an abduction and never have since they changed their story from disturbed blinds and shutters to the apartment being unlocked.
All the Team McCann PR exercise has been just that - about themselves and deflecting you and I from their gross and repeated child neglect, which, if Madeleine is dead, is the likely cause of her demise.
And if that wasn't evidence enough what about this PR business and the most expensive legal team in Europe - for a couple not even charged with anything?
I would jail them for child neglect and have the twins put with parents who care, not just bung 'em in a creche all day.
After all, the McCanns won't exactly miss them will they? Too busy jogging and playing tennis than entertaining their kids. They disgust me.

I don't think the McCanns are murder suspects - not by the police officially anyway.

Social Services (SS) will/have, supposedly checked on the twins and can find no reason to suspect they are in any danger. I believe SS found they are being looked after adequately.

I agree that had the McCanns been ethnics or a poorly educated family, the SS would have been very nasty towards them and given them a load of grief, but that's how the SS work. If you're an easy target we'll bully you, if you can fight back, we'll go easy on you because we know you'll trip us up.

While I don't believe their children should be taken away they should be held accountable somehow and I do believe I read that social services is looking in on the twins to be sure they are being cared for. I don't know how the foster system in the UK is but in the US it is horrible in many cases. There are few good foster parents out there who do it because they care about the welfare of children. No matter what happens tragically nobody should be above the law. I am sure if somebody is driving recklessly or drunk driving and kills someone they will also suffer alot of guilt but just because one suffers from guilt does not mean they are above the law. Laws are put in place for a reason and they need to be upheld and people who break them should be made an example so the next someone things about breaking that law maybe they will think twice. But again I want repeat clearly I do not think the twins should be removed from their home. I think the McCanns should take parenting classes and social services looking in on the children regularly and at odd hours like at night to be sure they are being properly taken care of. If it is proven Madeleine was in fact kidnapped by a stranger and the parents were not involved in her disappearence outside of the neglect I would say the parents have learned a hard lesson and will never do it again. They should be punished like any other parent who did this would be and again here in the US children are not just ripped from their homes because they were left alone. I know someone who had SS called on them this summer for leaving their 9 year old home all day alone while they worked. The basically just spoke to the parents and told them if they did not find proper child care they would take their child into custody. A week later Social Services looked in on the child again during the day and he was not home. The parents got paperwork filled out by the childs new sitter showing the child was in daycare. SS a week later showed up at the daycare to make sure he was there. I do not condone this behavior whatsoever...I would like to see the McCanns stop blaming others for their missing child and just for once take responsibilty for what they did that night. They need to say yes we are to blame the most because of how stupid we were.

I'm sure the PJ have it lined up as plan B.

If the case against them being involved in her disappearance falls through due to lack of evidence (and not lack of guilt) then just when they think they're being great and smug and gotten away with it...

bang...

Criminal negligence charges. The old Al Capone trick.

I think the PJ are biding their time hoping they trip themselves up, rather than complicate things by charging them with a lesser crime.

However, why social services haven't intervened in the UK for the sake of the twins, god knows.

I'm suprised that the Portuguese police, who seem to have handled the whole thing very badly, don't have psychological profilers. They could surely do with them. When Mr McCann was asked by a German interviewer at a press conference: "do you know what happened to your daughter?" He lowered his head (disguising facial cues) and closed his eyes (hiding eye info) and said "no!". His body language suggested that he new damn-well what had happened.
Having said that, your point is, I think a little harsh. Is anybody in the world a perfect parent? Haven't we all lapsed at sometime or other? Most people think that drink-driving is bad, yet nearly everyone has done it at sometime or other and most get away with it. As most parents do when they take their eye off the ball with their children. Anyway, it is a moot point. I am convinced that they are responsible for the child's disappearance. The motive is not obvious, but there will be a motive.

If they weren´t doctors, and they were unemployed the social services would have been all over them like a rash. They left their kids alone in an apartment in a foreign country while they went out for dinner with their mates. You wouldn´t get away with that in UK, (well unless you were a heart surgeon). How shifty do they look??? Look up body language.

I doubt very much that the McCanns would leave their twins alone now do you?
There is no need for social services to be involved. The only reason people like you want them to be is because you dont like the parents.Ive seen comments like"hes got dodgy eyes" or shes looks hard faced, what utter rubbish.
They have been punished, what more do you want?

Firecat, I don't think it was intended as a race issue (at least I hope not). I think it is in reference to class and how if they fit the description of a group that is easily discriminated against, they would have been done for neglect by now, but as 2 respected doctors, nothing yet has happened.

As tragic a story as it is Michael, the fact is, BECAUSE of their neglect, their daughter is now missing, it isn't a case of their daughter is missing and now everone wants to accuse them of neglect for a laugh. I think one rule should apply to all! btw, since when was Maddie "abducted"??? Even Gerry had to change his word to "disappearance". And Jane Tanners "sighting" of the alleged abductor has been disputed by a few witnesses

I totally agree with what you said but why did you have to play the race card? The fact is that if it had been ANY colour of poor kids they would have been arrested and charged.
This case has nothing to do with colour and it is comments like these that cause racial tension in this country.

Right with you on this one. That is one thing I KNOW they are guilty of. If they had been from socio-economic groups C2 - E they would have been in the dock as soon as the plane touched down! Pull them in - NOW!
