Your first two "problems" do not have a question associated with them.

3) if you graph x = y^2, you get a parabola with a vertex at (0.0) that opens to the right. This graph fails the vertical line test, which says that a function has only one y value for every x value. Since a vertical line can cross through the graph twice, it is not a function.
