The same thing that happened when Operation Market Garden failed. Operation Market Garden was supposed to be a way into Germany by doing an end run through Dutch country it was heavily reliant on airborne and failed terribly,So the allies launched another invasion plan the invasion of Normandy but had it failed they would probably used another plan and you can be sure they were working on a back up plan even as the invasion of France was taking place.

It would have been a catastrophic setback for the Allies and prolonged the war by at least a year.
The Russians would have advanced furhher into Europe and the only front on which the Western allies could fight was Italy.
They would have been limited in Norhtern Europe to the air war.
There is also the prospect of the use of atomic weapons by the western allies against Germany.

Well, many possibilities. The war would have been longer, the Americans wouldn't have been able to divert their military strength to the Pacific campaigns and the Japanese would have gained and strengthened more strategic positions that could prevent an effective allied offensive later on. Or the Russians could have taken the entire European theatre alone as they had been successful against the weak German defenses on the Eastern front and, the Cold War could have ended on a different manner or could led to another world war. I could go on and on but the bottom line is, we're all thankful that D-Day had been successful.

The Russians would have overrun all of Europe, except for Italy, and installed Communist Governements in them. One of the main reasons for invading France instead of just sitting back and bombing Germany into submission, was to try and prevent the Russians from doing this. They got the eastern half of the continent anyway.
The Western Allies never really trusted the Russians, but they had to respect their fighting ability.

Actually, it would have given Nazi Germany time to finish developing their superior weaponry. It also would have given them more time to push the Red army back, until the weapons were developed and used. Moscow and London would have been Nuked. Hitler would have finally been killed by the remaining Prussian officers still remaining. The efforts of the Allies would have been defeated until it became an atomic war.
