Avoid them like the plague. They probably say bad things about you too. Most gossipers are miserable people who love to stir up trouble and then sit back watch it play out and come out smelling like a rose. I've known quite a few of these people and like I said, don't get caught up in their crap. And if they spread things about you, confront them and watch them squirm and try and lie their way out of it. It becomes amusing after awhile. Also, when they start gossiping, turn the tables on them. Say something nice about the person their running down. Watch them boil. They'll soon learn what they can and cannot say around you.

Determine preserving consistent with manufacturer coverage what you wish to mention to the individual. Meet with the subordinate's manager and advocate the manager that you simply might love to have the manager reward with you while you speak together with his worker...undoubtedly provide an explanation for to the manager that you simply suppose that their worker is growing gigantic disharmony within the office and also you search to confront and give up the worker from spreading rumors and hurtful gossip. Meet with the worker and their manager. Advise the worker that you simply search to remedy the trouble earlier than the problem will get as much as leadership/management. Inform the worker what you might have heard and what you advise the worker do to stop the feedback earlier than the worker unearths himself up earlier than the boss at which factor there might be not anything that you simply would do to avoid wasting his/her activity. I suppose that in case you manage it this manner then you definitely look after your self and get the gossip to give up because the worker is not going to wish to convey his/her instantaneous manager into the fray.

Oh man, if only I had a magic wand that I could use to zap these people away. But I just ignore them like the plague. If I see them coming, I don't make eye contact and move on. I try not to talk to them and only say the occasionally "hello" and "goodbye" in passing.

I tell everyone that they are sleeping together. Its great if they're the same sex. I let them know I started the rumors to shut them up; 3-4 weeks later that is.

I usually ignore them unless they piss me off
then I just start a rumor about them so that they can see what it feels like to have people talk about them for a change

I say, "I'd prefer not to hear personal things, because I never remember what it's OK to tell someone else and what it isn't."
