Hi!
I am currently on the move to get more fish and I have 1 week to decide what fish to get. I am currently on a look out for some surface fish.

Do you guys have any ideas of some good surface fish?

Here is what I have:
3 Bronze Cories
3 Neons
3 Cherry Barb

Most of my fish I have are middle or bottom dwellers so I don't see much of them except on feeding. Do you have any good ideas of some surface fish that would go well in my aquarium and with my fish?

I can only have 2 fish at a time. Schooling fish would need to wait.

halfbeaks, upside down catfish (if you have floating plants so they have something at the surface to feed on upside down, hatchetfish (schooling), African butterfly (aggressive, will eat very small fish, needs 30+ gallon tank), pencilfish

ADDITION: You should first add about 3 more neons - these are schooling fish too. If you have them in a school, they should feel more comfortable to come out and swim. With just 3, they may be on the timid side and spend more time hiding.

All of the fish you have a schooling fish. Get rid of the 3 Cherry Barbs, add 2 more Neons and add 5 Hatchet fish and you'll have a full though nice 10 gallon aquarium. Keep up on the water changes and add some live plants that come up to the surface and that will help as well. A nice piece of driftwood always goes well. You can attach some java moss or java ferns to this because they will both grow well on driftwood in a low light aquarium. Have a good cover of the tank or the Hatchets will jump.

I would get rid of the cherry barbs and add several more neons, since these are schoolng fish. For top levels of the aquarium try some zebra danios

I'd say its about full. any more fish and you could over crowd the tank, which might be bad. a good rule is roughly one inch of fish per gallon.

they aren't really top dwellers but most gouramis breathe on top and spend lots of time hanging out at the top -- maybe consider a paradise fish or small gourami -- or even a male betta. i have some floating watersprite and a betta that loves hanging out in it.

your alittle pushing overstocked, but better to increase your neon school...at least make something right...

another fish species that your looking for will need another bigger school of animals.
