1 kg = 1000 g
centi means 100th so 1g = 100cg

Therefore 81.6kg = 81600g = 8160000cg

I think you have one too many zeros.

By the way, in contries that use metrics, they NEVER use centi prefix with grams. It's either gram or milli-gram.

Your answer is incorrect. It has an extra 0 - that would be 81,600,000 milligrams (not centigrams).

1 kg = 1000 grams
1 gram = 100 centigrams (centi is 100)
1 kg = 100,000 centigrams
81.6 kg = 8,160,000 centigrams

You can verify the answer through any online conversion tool (for weight). I grew up with the metric system and it makes perfect sense. Everything is about 10,100,1000, etc.

just remember the prefixes: kilo (10^3) hecto (10^2) deka (10^1) (10^0) deci (10^-1) centi (10^-2) mili (10^-3).

you are trying to go from kilo- to centigrams so subtract the first exponent (3) from the last (-2) which is 5, then multiply the starting number (81.6kg) by 10^5 and you get 8160000. (you have too many zeros) to go the other way you would multiply by 10^-5. metric is all about powers of ten. you just have to know the prefixes.

longhand it would be: 81.6kg * 1000g/kg * 100cg/g (the units will cancel and you will be left in cg)

the prefixes kilo (k) and centi (c) merely represent powers of ten.

kilo means 1 thousand = 10^3
centi means 1 one-hundredth = 1/100 = 10^-2

81.6 kg * (10^3 / k) * (c / 10^-2) = 81.6*10^(3-(-2)) cg = 81.6*10^5 cg = 8.16 * 10^6 cg

u use the metric system. ITs based on tens. IT goes kila, hecto, deca, base, deci, centi, mila.

what u do is u count how many places it takes to go from Kila to centi. (5) then move the decimal 5 places to the right because your going right on the conversion table. u fill in the blanks with zeros.

hope this helps
