NOPE, no need to mess w/ BIOS. It is most likely your power supply. Monitor turns off when the card starts drawing power which is up to 46 watts for FX 5700 Ultra. Your power supply can not cope up with its power requirement.

Upgrade to a stronger power supply. 350 to 400W should do it.

I've always found the best way is to load the drivers for the vid card first, before actually installing the card. Can't speak for operating systems other than Linux, or Windows, but Windows has thousands of drivers, and will try to load the closests match,(driver). This usually results in a poor match for the driver needed. There is usually conflict, as to which driver to use,(Windows trying to 'decide'). I would suggest removing the software,(Add/Remove Programs, also check in Windows Explorer,(My Computer>Local Disk (C:), Programs, also Shared Files and Folders), then removing the vid card. Power back up, re-install the software,(drivers), from the included cd, then power down re-install vid card, power up!

Your BIOS should be fine. You do need to go into your BIOS at set up and disable the on board video card so your computer knows which one to use.

no you should not have to, but it is always a good idea to update the bios anyway, depending on the computer make sure it will support that video card. and make sure you have the drivers for the video card.
