Common sense just means the ability to solve simple day-to-day challenges without repeatedly making the same mistakes or losing your cool. People who have no common sense screw up over and over and never seem to learn how to get along in the world. And I think it will ALWAYS serve the people who have it, because it evolves to fit a given situation.

Examples: Common sense says that if your computer acts oddly, chances are it has nothing to do with your car that happens to be parked in the garage next to your home office.

Common sense says that sugar is not the cause of your child's current behavioral problems if he hasn't had anything with sugar in it for weeks.

Common sense says that if you car is leaking fuel onto the engine block, it's not a good idea to take it out for a drive just to "see how it runs".

Common sense is knowledge that is known without thought. For Example: 2+2=4 common sense wise you didn't need to even think for the answer. Another example would be not touching a hot stove. Common Sense wise you know the pot is hot so you wouldn't touch it. Though in both cases you are still using your brain.

Common Sense means you know how to be logical. People that possess it get along in life much better than those who don't have it and I, for one, can not stand to be around those who do not have any common sense. Yes, it has served me well, thank Goodness!

common sense really isnt very common. so instead, it should be called uncommon good sense. its frustrating when we expect ppl to have "common sense" because according to the name, most people should posess it. however, this is not the case...sorry to not exactly answer your question but common sense should be called uncommon good sense.

It means whatever the subject/ matter is, is of common knowledge.

Although most people don't possess common sense so it should be renamed to uncommon sense.

I mean it just makes sense.

SCREW WHOEVER GAVE ME A THUMBS DOWN. OBVIOUSLY THEY DON'T HAVE COMMON SENSE. PROVES MY POINT. =0)

It means something like "don't go the wrong way on a one-way street" in a small town that you grew up in.

tough to put into words but I guess the easiest way to explain it is that it's like street smarts. It's not something you can be taught, it's more intuitive and gained by experience. And yes it has served me well.
