I have many audio CDRs (not MP3). As they get older I hear a scratching sound as the CD gets closer to the end of playing. Eventually the CDR gets to be unplayable because the scratching gets louder. Why does this happen? What can I do to prevent this from happening? Thanks!

it means either the CD is scratched or there is something wrong with the player. it happens more towards the end because it probably does it each time the cd spins, and since there is less data per spin when you get nearer to the centre, it spins and scratches faster.

You might have a speaker wire grounding on metal. Check your wire to see if it has a cut or a slice in it that might have it exposed.
