First 6x times 3x = 18x^2
Outer 6x times -4 = -24x
Inner -1 times 3x = -3x
Last -1 times -4 = 4
18x^2 - 24x - 3x + 4
18x^2 - 27x +4

FOIL means multiply the
1) First terms on each of the binomial
(6x) (3x) = 18x^2
2) Outer terms of the binomial
(6x) (-4) = -24x
3) Inner terms of the binomial
(-1) (3x) = -3x
** This will comprise the middle term of your product/equation. It should be the sum of the O and the I. Thus: -24x + (-3x) = -27x
4) Last terms of the binomial
(-1) (-4) = 4
Then combine them all together.
The answer would be:
18x^2 - 27x + 4

FOIL stands for
F first 6x * 3x
O outside 6x *-4
I inside -1*3x
L last -1*-4
18x^2-24x-3x+4 and simplify
18x^2-27x+4

First Outer Inner Last
6x*3x +(6x*(-4))+(-1*3x)+(-1*-4)
18x^2 + (-24x) + (-3x) + 4
18x^2 -24x -3x + 4
18x^2 -27x +4
