Most schools, businesses, etc block many sites that are not related to academic or business purposes. They install monitoring software which moniters each user and record their attempts to address prohibited sites. The monitoring software is pretty sophisticated and it pretty much keeps ahead of student inspired end runs (e.g. proxys). If you manage to get around today, the software will catch you when it is revised - and then nail you for accessing prohibited site. As a student, you risk disciplinary action including revocation of Internet access for failure to comply to guidelines. As an employee you can be fired for this misbehavior.

Therefore don't mess with the system.
