We had this problem with our daughter as well. She would wake up with EVERY little noise. We could not even have the TV on, because she would hear it. Even though it is in a different room that is very far away.

We tried to get her used to it, but after a few months of not getting any sleep. We decided to get a white noise maker. It worked much better then the fan.

This is the one that I got. I love it, it blocks out the noise and it makes it much better. Plus, on nights that there is going to be more noise in the house (we were having friends to dinner) we turned it up a bit. She slept through the whole thing.

I even did everything they said. I never kept it quiet for her when she was little. But, she still turned out to be a light sleeper.

With my first baby, we played a rain sounds CD continuously and that really worked well in drowning out outside noise (we had an apartment near the community pool). Now with our second kid, we have a white noise maker that also does rain sounds, and it was only like $15 from Target. Another benefit to the rain sounds is that when it is quiet in the baby's room, we know the monitor is still working because we hear the rain. AND the kids don't get scared at night during thunderstorms!

You need to slowly get her used to noise. Vacuum outside her door right after she falls asleep during one of those naps where she is exhausted, so she wakes up, but goes back to sleep on her own... run a humidifier in her room all day and night... put news radio on very quietly in the corner of her room, so she will hear talking in a steady voice, but no music or anything that she would want to pay attention to... If she is used to the quiet of your house, it will take a bit to get her to adjust to sleeping through noise. Good luck.

I have a radio in the baby's room set to static - similar to a white noise machine. It softens any environmental noise that might wake baby. I put it on before she goes to sleep & leave it on while she naps. I will also leave it on when she goes down for the night & turn it off when we go to bed. It's worked well for us, hope it can do the same for you!

If she is sleeping in her own room and hears the noise in there then just run a fan (not pointed towards her) or a white noise machine. It worker on my one year old when she was that age.

This is why i dont keep it quiet from day 1. They get used to normal noises from the time i bring my baby home.

Just let her get used to it, she will adjust.

i have four step kids, so my friend suggested having an ambient noise in my baby's room. she said specifically try using a fan (not facing the baby), just for the noise.

Play a radio all the time.

Soundproof her room (and put-in a baby monitor and - if you feel the need - a video camera).

Good luck!

just let her get use to it ...when she wakes up don't pick her up let her try to fall asleep by herself. Slowly she will get use to it.
