I have just found out for sure that my husband is a bigamist. What do I do? I'm so scared! I suspected it for a long time but finally found out through vital statistics in Kansas that he was married and it took about 2 weeks but I found that no state in the US has a record of divorce. What do I need to do?

I married a man who said he had never been married. After marrying and moving to a new apartment, I was going through old Army records and found a form with the blank "spouse" filled in. I was floored, to say the least. I did some investigating of my own, then I confronted him, he "explained", I accepted, and life went on. Suffice it to say, this was just the first of many lies or omittances that caused a serious lack of trust. Not a good foundation for marriage and family.
Think long and hard about what it is you want, for yourself and your marriage, and act accordingly.

well ok you say no state has a record of him being divorced. But dose any state show a record of his first wife being dead. So if hes not divorced run the same trace on his first wife. see where she is and contact her. Then take it from there. If she confirms your suspicions then contact the police as your marriage will have no legal standing. Nor will there be any legally sanding contracts between you re mortgage life assurances any contract or agreement you entered with a third party as Mr and Mrs will not be worth the paper its written on, if he dropped dead tomorrow any insurance cover would go to his first and legal wife. and if it is confirmed he is as you say then cut his little swingers off with a blunt knife

Well what do you want to do, have you confronted him about it? Do you want to remain in this kind of marriage? These might be the first questions you need to answer before you tackle the legal stuff.

Separate from him and hire a lawyer. Report this to the law as soon as you have had your initial visit with the lawyer. He will be liable for the expenses. Not you.

Go to your local sheriff's office with your marriage certificate and the information you have on him being married to someone else and see what they do.

Why are people suggesting lawyers ? come off it.

Look under the "A"s in the phone book and search for "attorneys".

first of all you have to be clear on what you want. if you want to be with him talk to him and work it out if you don't want to keep him trash him, dump him, you deserve something better if you love him and you think you can forgive him good luck if you are not sure don't lose your time.
