There are many parallels between Buddhist sayings and quotes from Jesus. And Buddhism is believed to have originated 500 years before Christianity did. So how could Buddhism have influenced christianity? e.g. missionaries, immigration, etc

The main reason is, off course, the economic one. The Buddhist traders, went all over Asia(including Asia Minor)and sold their goods, and bought other. Considering the level of their education and knowledge,it seems reasonable that the people in Asia Minor were inspired from the tales, myths and beliefs of the "outsiders". I also learned at college that certain parts from the Bible were inspired from the ancient writings from India(Hinduism), and this is just the scratch, I think. A specialist would tell you more accurate, but I think this is the basics.

Most Christian doesn't belive in Buddhism but what Buddha taugh us was more than just simple his words, it was truth of the life, so that's normal for many religions to have similiar of what Buddha said, because Buddha is talking about the "the true" and Buddhism also respect every religions beause it is not a coincedent that all the religions has a lot of similiarities, it is because they all talkiing about the same things.

only difference is that they talking about "part" of the same things. for example.

Let say there is a book on the table. and you looking the book from left side of the table and I am looking at it from the right side of table.

the left side, you see the book is a colorful print on the front page. you see nothing but that, I, on other hand, see the back of the book which is nothing but a black color. but we both said the book is shape of rectangle, so be my guess...

I hope you understand.

when you have time, read more about Buddhism, it will amazed you. it is really wonderful, I enjoy it very much. I really like what Buddha's approach. He is not the one punish anyone or give anyone, one must be responsible of his or her own actions. there is more to this.

Last but not the least, although Buddhism doesn't agree that there is only one God, but we do respect Jesus and other religions, as long it doesn't hurt anyone, we might not agree everything they said but we do know that people have right to pick what they choose to believe, and we can't force people. Plus every religions are exist for a reasons. So, we respect Jesus too because he is like a Bodhisattva to us. (it mean someone is really really compassion for the well beings.)

Even in ancient times, people had trade and other contact with each other. Ideas were exchanged as well. But just because some ideas are similar doesn't rule out the possibility that others thought the same things on their own.

Many people beleave that Buddhism is a relegion but Buddha was just a man who started a dicipline, and that dicipline spread like wild fire to the east. Because if you looked more carefuly the eastern cultures also had their share of gods that they worshiped.
