smsmith...Hmm...then why does Yahoo Answers delete questions without any reason except someone didn't like the question?
I DO realize that there are their protocols but there are questions that are deleted that don't breech the rules of YA and are not illegal to ask! So, yes, they do remove questions all the time!

GlenB. I agree with you that for Freedom of Speech you also need to hear about what the other people say and put up with it. But for the GOVERNMENT to criticize their citizens? That is crossing the line of no longer having Freedom of Speech because of Congresses actions.

Every single one who voted for that is a coward. That is constitutionally protected freedom of the press and the congress has no business making social commentary or condemning anything said or published outside of its own structure. This move is something that basically is a backhanded stab at the first amendment. How exactly is this furthering any sort of real legislation?

That is such a lot obviously now not going down within the UK. The Labour get together bought into vigor in 1997 by way of relocating to the correct and forsaking a few of their extra socialist recommendations. The UK is plenty much less Marxist or socialist than it used to be earlier than 1979 whilst Thatcher grew to become PM, and the Labour Party is now simply an additional centre-correct get together. Industries and offerings that had been nationalised earlier than 1979 have now not been renationalised by way of Labour - trains, fuel, telecoms, and so forth. are actually all personal businesses and this represents a significant step clear of socialism. Also, in the course of Labour's thirteen years in executive, the revenue hole among the richest and the poorest has honestly expanded. Under a strict socialist or communist society, the hole could have diminished enormously. You might argue that the UK is fitting extra authoritarian even though. We've noticeable a colossal broaden in the usage of CCTV and police are allowed to preserve humans in custody for longer with out trial (Ant-terrorism legislation.) On the turn part to that's the Freedom of Information Act, which has allowed humans within the UK to receive a lot more expertise approximately what is occurring in executive and public our bodies.

Yes, ALL American citizens have freedom of speech. Contrary to what people say that the administration is trying to censure what MoveOn.org said, the fact remains that it was a response to MoveOn.
If MoveOn.org can print articles like that than certainly Americans have a right to respond to it and call it what they will!
You can't have one without the other.
Edit; The people of the government are entitled to the same freedoms of speech as its citizens. This includes a response to the ad.

Move On has the freedom to say what it said. However, they are not free from criticism. When you say something idiotic, people have the freedom of speech to call you an idiot. I dont mean you you but anyone in general. MoveOn said something stupid, the House condemned it for being stupid. That is freedom of speech on both sides.

If there were no freedom of speech in this country, even asking this question would get you busted.
One of the main characteristics of cultures without free speech rights is that people can shout the praises of the thugs in charge from the roof tops. Just do not ever, never dare to ask why uncle Albert was hauled off to prison just for asking why there is almost no food for sale in the shops. (Just an example)

In this case, yes. Symbolic resolutions of 'condemnation' (for contemptable speach) do not infringe on the freedom of speach.
When the people who made or commissioned the add are arrested or 'disapeared,' you can start complaining.
Though, freedom of speach /is/ being routinely violated in a number of other areas, this wasn't one of them.
