I bought a gateway laptop a year ago. Everything was fine until it started to run very very slow. My husband redid the computer and now I do not have sound.

My computer does not even recognize its own sound card and I have no idea what to do. I tried going to the website and downloading the sound program but it tells me that I do not have a device mixer.

Please help. I want my sound back.

Your husband deleted the soundcard driver in the process. Reinstall the soundcard driver. It could be in the driver CD that came with your PC. If it is gone, download the driver from Gateway's website.

If you already tried the sound button on your computer (the little speaker icon on the toolbar) and that didn't work, you should probably call or email the Gateway people and they'ss tell you what to do. Does your computer have a warranty, by any chance?
