There's absolutely nothing weird about a male elementary teacher! My third and fourth grade teachers were both males and they were my favorite teachers by far. The reason you don't see too many men in that profession is because most men don't have the patience to deal with younger children, other people's children that is. In all my years of working with preschool age and elementary age children, men seem to be their favorite teachers. Plus studies have shown that the deeper voice of a male is more commanding to children, perks their little ears right up and demands more respect. Also, men seem to have more of the "fun" aspect instead of the "mom" aspect which makes them more interested in learning. I say go for it! The world could use more positive male role models for their children.

I believ there is nothign wrong with a male Elementary school teacher. Sometimes children need the male teacher so they can understand better. Having a male as a teacher makes the students intimidated and think that hes going to be strict and mean. it scares them at first. I wouldve loved to have more male teachers, but unfortunatly I think ive had about three or four. I say you go into it, tis an awesome career!

There's nothing weird about it, it's just not as common. I personally think we could use more men on the elementary level. Many young boys need positive male role models, and male teachers are a great way to get these role models.

There is nothing wrong with male elmentary teachers. I think more men should become elementary teachers. There are a lot of little boys that need postive male role models. You should go for it! You will have no problem getting a job. Schools will beg you to work for them. Dont let anybody tell you not to because of sterotypes!
Good luck!!!!! I really hope you do it!

It should be a non-issue to everyone. Half the population is male, having an Y chromosome doesn't somehow make you a poor candidate for being a teacher. If it's what you're interested in, go for it! Daddies are some of the BEST TEACHERS and they are male! Teaching kids that learning comes from all kinds of different sources and types of people is a positive thing.

I don't think it is weird at all! Male teachers are usually calmer and more level headed with the students. They typically care about the students just as much as the female teachers. It is good for some students to have a strong male role model if they come from a home without one.

it is easier for you to get a job in elementary instead of high school as a teacher. These kids need positive male role models. If you like the age group, and can be that positive role model--- then its a great fit for everyone.

I think mostly just coincidence really..... but I have know alot more "bad" male teachers than female, so I wouldn't be surprised id schools shun away from hiring males. But thats just what I've seen, not fact. But don't discourage from being a teacher, its a great thing you are the doing. They say kids are the future, but only you can help them get there ^_^

there is a tremendous demand for male elem teachers and partially because so many young boys have no father figure and i am a retired teacher, elem and it seemed to me by 4th grade, if they had a single parent mom, they were tired of listening to females, I live in So. Or and we even have male K teachers Go for it !!!

a male teacher should hav a sense of humor, but not that much or else ur class will be laughing too much to learn. here is an example of how sens of humor helps. etc. Peach seeds contain a chemical in them taht can kill people if u eat about 30 of them. Too boring and no one will memorise that! Here is what u should say: This is a WONDERFUL way of killing ur annoying cousin! Challenge him to a peach-seed-sucking contest. There is a chemical in those seeds that wll be fatal! A male teacher should also b abl 2 hav his class under control. ur students need to feel that there IS some1 who has got all under control and feel more relaxed.
