When the sun becomes a red giant, the earth will be destroyed :(

By an asteriod, or if in the next 5 billion years they can't do it, then by the Sun expanding at the end of its natural life and swallowing up the earth.

There are two ways for an asteriod to destroy us, really: first, it could hit us directly, or, second, knock the moon into the earth.

Also, a comet could hit the earth like they did with Jupiter. Since earth is so much smaller than Jupiter, a collision like that would mean THE END. Closed curtains, show's over.

not something ensures a planet to continually have existence, despite if mentioned planet has existence in some unspecified time interior the destiny in time. The age of Earth, and the age of existence on the earth are 2 separate questions. in basic terms creationists think of they are an identical question. in addition, the tip of existence on the earth, and the tip of Earth are 2 separate questions. in basic terms people who're nutcases think of they are an identical question. And, the respond to NEITHER question has something to do with 2012. case in point, if Earth does have a destiny to be like what Venus is now, it nonetheless an identical planet it continually grow to be. It nonetheless is an identical 6*10^24 kilograms of cloth in orbit around the sunlight. merely on condition that textile is merely rocks and environment and indoors, does not recommend that it ceased to exist. it is for particular that the sunlight will circulate via severe heating in billions of years from now. at last, sure, the oceans will boil away, and Earth would be dry, and it would be remaining curtains for all of Earth's existence. yet, that doesn't recommend that Earth isn't nonetheless Earth. not till the sunlight totally expands crimson huge and engulfs Earth rendering Mars the "new Mercury" will the completed end of Earth happen.

You mean the 5,974,200,000,000,000,000,000 tonnes of mass.

Maybe, just maybe, spiralling into the Sun when the sun becomes a red giant. It is possible that the Sun bloats out so much that its surface will extend all the way to our orbit or even a bit further. If the Earth tries to orbit "inside" the sun, it will be slowed down and spiral in, eventually finding itself sinking to the centre. Not good.

However, before we get there, it is possible that our orbit gets a bit wider (as the sun loses some mass), so maybe we could escape the spiralling down.

Andromeda-MilkyWay collision: Distance between stars is so large that actual star-star collisions will be rare. However, tidal effects may push some stars (and their planetary systems) outside their galaxy or towards the black hole(s).

If our Sun falls into a black hole and we follow... also not good.

---

Both events are schedules for approximately 5,000,000,000 years from now.

Stick around and see who wins.

Hi, we know that one day it will die. But if we don't kill it? Then the sun willl either way. Also the possibility for a meteorite to impale us. The sun will turn into a red giant before it dies.
Once the fusion of hydrogen into helium stops it turns into a white dawrf.

No sun= us not having a gravitational pull and flying off into space. Also no heat.

A bloated red giant for a sun. Some rogue body like a star, planet, brown dwarf, black hole. Maybe the intergalactic demolition crew will show up one day?

Or maybe the planet will be spared destruction and be flung out of the solar system by the gravitational interaction of a passing star. And tens of billions of years from now it will collide with an inhabited alien world taking them with it.

Kinda makes you proud of your little planet doesn't it :)

what will happen my guese is that we will change the ballance of earth by tranfering weight.look around you see all the metal?how about concrete?if you put a ball on a magnetic force(two poles) and put tar on one side of it the ball.it would turn off its axes and fall on the floor.cept in this case the floor is none excistant so we will probly hit something else.my big bang thery
