Thomas,
Belief does NOT enter into it. You may have to backtrack a bit to have some understanding of atomic theory, physics, geology, biology, etc., to totally understand what has gone on. To understand exactly how dating is done -- don't listen to the fools who think Carbon dating is the only method used to determine age of the strata that fossils are found in. There are other measuring tools that have been developed.
Now, go find out what has been uncovered within the past 150 years or so. You will find that there is no doubt whatsoever that animals, plants, and in fact all living things on this planet have evolved and are evolving even now. It's not just something that happened in the distant past.
You don't need to believe anything. These people who rant on here about no transition fossils are absolutely incorrect. There are lots of them in fact showing the evolution of the jaw from gill arches. There are fossils showing the evolution of the mammalian inner ear, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=1202224&dopt=AbstractPlus, etc.
Remember too, that organisms do not evolve as pieces. Even though we sometimes fall into the shorthand of saying the "eye" evolved, the "tail" evolved, etc., what we are talking about is the whole organism. If some change (mutation or recombination ) helps the particular individual leave more decendents than does not having that particular change - because of whatever selective pressure is operating at the time, then that mutation will tend to become more common in the population. Over time, various populations develop different frequencies of difference. If they reach a point where those difference influence behavior (eg., this part of the population breeds earlier in the year than that part) it will tend to drive the accumulation of even more differences -- over time, these difference build up to different species. Given enough time, these difference build up to different genera and even different phyla.
The species is the unit, not the individual. So, don't take my word for it. Belief is not necessary. Simply go and actually find what has been found - and when I say go find, I mean someplace credible. A creationist site ain't credible by any definition used by anyone except another creationist.

Evolution does no longer require “concept”. scientific theories are the two supported or no longer supported. a individual’s “concept” in them is beside the point. The technology is settled, and there rather is not any debate. Evolution is the thought maximum supported by way of the information. rather ignorant human beings might push aside it by way of asserting “It’s in basic terms a concept”. the only ingredient this fact exhibits is that the speaker has no awareness of the information “concept” in scientific words. there's a “concept” of Gravity. might they, as a result, deny the existence of gravity? Evolution could be and has been stated. this is a actuality. The “concept” is how those information come mutually and why, no longer the ingredient (gravity, evolution and so on.) itself. I even have heard quite a few human beings ask “If monkeys grew to become into human beings, why are there nonetheless monkeys?” human beings and different primates (great Apes) have a basic ancestor. Apes did no longer “exchange into “human beings. it is like asking “If the Pilgrims got here from England, how can there nonetheless be an England”? some human beings will reject scientific information, no remember how properly supported, if it contradicts their non secular faith. There are, in existence in the present day, people who unquestionably have self assurance the Earth is flat because of the fact their interpretation of specific Biblical thoughts may well be impossible on a around Earth. All information that contradicts the Bible could be rejected so they might preserve their worldview. it rather is totally unhappy, rather. And yet, in case you have been to symbolize that Zeus (or any of the masses of gods human beings had until eventually now theirs) have been to blame, creationists might say that became ridiculous, and clearly in keeping with superstition and mythology.

I am a Christian and I think evolution is a good theory. I have not really researched it. But if you are confused on whether you can be a Christian and believe in evolution, I can help. I have learned in my Religion class, Catholic school, that the Bible is not meant to be a science book. God made the Earth. It probably was not the Adam and Eve version. God controlled every stage of the making of the Earth. Maybe not in 7 days. Millions of years? A possibility. If evolution is true, God controlled every stage of the process. Evolution does not contradict your faith...if you are a Christian.

OMG seperate the two dang theories. God and evolution are cool together. No problems with one another, not mutually exclusive.
Obviously evolution exists, bacteria acquire resistance to anitbiotics, and develop different properties than they did before when exposed to UV light. Obviously they were changed. The ones with the changes survived and carried on, I believe that is the definition for evolution. It is not a disputable theory, it is a fact that can be tested over and over again in an experiment.
From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)
--Ok, no problem there with evolution either. God made a male and female. Does it say HOW He made them?? No, it doesn't. Why can we accept that the way God made the male and female was through evolution. He could have set up a primordial soup and set in motion the events that lead to the creation of man. God follows natural laws of physics and life.
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host by the breath of His mouth. For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:9)
-- I believe that SPAKE should be SPOKE. Once again, same arguement as above. Any questions, send me a message.

Evolution is a theory that explains the various types of animals found on this planet at various times in Earth's history.
A theory is a tool that helps us understand things. As a tool, it is neither "true" nor "false". It is either useful or not.
It turns out to be the most useful theory right now. Nothing else comes even close.
---
In the same way that Newton's theory of gravitation is neither true nor false. If you are on Earth and you are dealing with objects that move at "normal" Earth speeds, it is very useful. If you have to deal with things that are moving close to the speed of light (like jets shooting out of quasars), then the gravitation equations in the Theory of General Relativity will be more useful.

Because it is not a matter of belief, but of evidence, you should have no doubts on your position. Evolution, the change in allele frequency over time in a population, is a fact. The theory of evolution by natural selection, explains the mechanisms of the fact of evolution and is the backbone of biology.
Do not accept sly assertions, when the evidence is readily available.

the gradual process of change that occurs in populations of organisms over a long period of time can be proven through basic bacteria research. It manifests itself to adapt to many different situations quickly.
Bacteria is much easier to study due to its very very short life span. Humans take much longer due to very long life spans.
I don't see what is so hard to decide? Look at primitive ancestors of homo sapiens. Compare and contrast. Do some research and decide for yourself.

Evolution is most definitely real. Scientist have proven so. They have discovered that whales have unused leg bones inside them. Scientist believe that whales used to walk on land.
