I'm in the financial field and talk to people door to door. The problem is that I'm 26 years old and I have no gray hair. I know the in's and out's of the business but cannot close the sales. Any advise.

Are you finding that nobody trusts you because you're so young?

One thing the young also have that also distinguishes them from their more experienced colleagues is a cocky demeanor. Make sure you're confident but not cocky. You may know enough about your products, but you don't know everything. People will have an inherent distrust of you.

When you find that you have a great product for your potential customer, but they're not sure about pulling the trigger, ask them what's holding them back. See what their reservations may be. Perhaps scale back your sale to something they feel comfortable spending.

Try some aging tricks. Growing a beard might help. Look what you are wearing how is your hair cut... try to go English classy. Also why door-to-door, is there other way to approach potential clients? It might also work to get another guy with same target and come together. Two sounds better and more serious, you will be able to prepare a "play" where you advertise each other. You can decide how to share clients later on.

try to sell the product or service by convincing the customers that they will be better off by having it. If you try to tell them they NEED it, they will resist unless they really do need it.
