Looking for a real good Italian place to eat, while on vacation in the historic northend of Boston.... (Little Italy)...

The North End is always a good choice for locals and visitors alike.

My favorite restaurant is a small place on Hanover Street called Pomodoro's. They have the most delicious salads and fresh baked bread. Each dinner is cooked to order -- my favorites are usually salmon or veal with olive risotto. The house wine is a perfect pairing with the offerings. After dinner stroll across the street for authentic Italian desserts at Mike's Pastry.

As one other writer mentioned, Pizzeria Regina on Thatcher Street is always a good choice. It is the original. The oven and the well-seasoned pans have never been duplicated. No matter what other reviewers tell you, although the Regina in Quincy Market is one of the best in Boston, the original North End Regina's is worth the wait. There are locals as well as tourists here and It's fun to see the photos of celebrities who have dined there over the years. And, you are in the thick of the North End.

Nebo is great - see first link (I was born and raised in Boston and have eaten at Nebo.)

and so is Ricardo's Ristorante - see link 2 (I've eaten there, too.)

but Davide Ristorante may be the best of all - see link 3. Mama mia - it's primo.

"We are more than happy to accommodate any special requests any of our patrons may have. Whether you want to have your self-caught wild game prepared by our chefs, reserve a room for a club meeting, or book the entire restaurant for a rehearsal dinner, Davide can oblige almost any desires. Contact us to see how we can meet you needs.

Please contact Frank or Anthony to book Davide for private functions or for answers to any questions you may have.

Davide Ristorante
326 Commercial Street
Boston, MA 02109

P.S. My brother-in-law's Italian, grew up in the North End and lives in Braintree. He also loves to eat and he's the one that took us to - in his words - the BEST Italian restaurant in the WORLD - it was Davide Ristorante, and I've got to admit, for once in his life (well, maybe twice - after all, he did marry my sister)
he was right.

It's tough to choose, though - they're ALL so darn good.

This is terribly random, but the restaurant "Artucci's" is amazing - unfortunately, I am drawing a blank on the address, but it is in Little Italy (Boston). Parking is a nightmare, but they serve the BEST calamari I've ever had.

We went to Pagliuca's a couple of weeks ago. Not bad. Pasta was cooked properly. Too much sauce for my tastes, but that's not unexpected.

Keep in mind that a lot of these places are not "authentic" Italian, they are Italian-American. More sauce than in Italy. (In Italy, the sauce is a condiment -- it's all about the pasta, itself. Just enough sauce to coat -- the pasta shouldn't be swimming in sauce.)
