Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, there's nothing wrong with 90% of the physical activities you did before you were pregnant. The major no-nos as I understand them are laying on your back after the first trimester [because the baby puts pressure on a major artery and can cut off your circulation] and any motions that require speed or agility like running, three legged races, or jumping up and down-not because they are bad for you but because of the risk that you may [in your "slightly unbalanced" pregnant state] fall and land on your stomach.
Other than that, if your doc hasn't told you not to do it there's pretty much nothing you can't do....there's a lot that you probably won't WANT to do [lifting heavier things, standing for long periods of time, vigorous excersize routines] and that's totally okay. If you feel uncomfortable doing it, don't. Just being pregnant, people [even employers] will generally not force you to do anything you don't want to do. If they try to make you do it anyway, just have your doctor write a note that says you can't. Most doctors will write you out of things you aren't comfortable with even if there is no "technical" medical reason for it.
You're pregnant-relax and take it easy as much as you can and don't push yourself.

Maybe they were trying to tell you about the ligament pulling feeling that you get when you get up too fast or bend down to pick stuff up. You can do just about the same things you did before you were prego, with the exception of heavy lifting or extreme exercise.
Congrats!

yes you can. It could cause some back pain and you should try squatting more rather than bending over at the hips to prevent this. It won't put your pregnancy at risk though. Just be sure you are not lifting anything too heavy.

My sis works as a CNA and she was high-risk pregnancy. She worked until about 2 weeks before her scheduled c-section at 38 weeks.

its not the best thing you could do for your back. especially being a cna and especially especially if you're pregnant. old habits are hard to break but try and be good to your body, it's the only one you have. and having back problems in the future will make your life a nightmare, ask some of your residents, they'll tell you

If it's not safe to bend over I'm in big trouble. I think that's an an old wives tale.

What the???? Of course it's safe, if you are used to doing it. If you just started doing it right this minute, then you could probably hurt yourself. Just like I wouldn't recommend you start jogging right now, but if you have always done it it's okay. Check with your doc to be sure.

you can bend down far along in pregnancy as long as you haven't been told NOT to by OB. you might want to ask your OB what weight is ok for you to lift though. :)
