I’ve had my period for about 5 years now and it’s always been slightly irregular because I’m skinny; nothing the doctors seem to be concerned about though. However, my past 2 periods have been brown and lighter than normal. It definitely wasn’t spotting, just not as heavy as usual. They came with all the normal PMS symptoms so I’d like to assume it’s just old blood. Is it normal for that to happen 2 periods in a row though? Any other ideas on what it could be?

I haven't had any recent sudden weight gains/losses but have been pretty stressed for a long time. Could this have influenced it as well? I have a doctor’s appointment in a few days but I’m still nervous/curious.

I have this brown period a couple of times in my life. The first time I got it, when it started, I thought I had an accident, then I realized it was my period. My doctor says this is normal and is not sure what really causes it. Sometimes it is old blood that you don't not get rid of during the last pregnancy. I did have a pap smear to test for an infection, but it was normal.

Stress can have an effect on your period.
(http://women.webmd.com/tc/Missed-or-Irregular-Periods-Topic-Overview) This is very important information regarding to stress and period. I believe that may be your problem since the doctors claimed there's nothing wrong with you, but i would strongly suggest for you to read that website:)
