I vote for people, not parties!!
I commend your attitude. And, no, there's nothing wrong with being a Democrat and having convictions regarding what you think is right or wrong.
I tend to lean toward Libertarians and moderate Republicans myself, but I'm not registered with any political party. Good people come in all flavors.
What bothers me the most is the attitude of voting for the lesser of two evils. Vote for evil and you still get evil. What's so difficult about that concept? In at least half the races I do not vote at all because I can't stomach any of the candidates. I sure wish we had "None of the Above" as a choice and, if the winning choice, it would force a new election with new candidates.

I don't think it's wrong to refuse to declare a side. If you do, about 50% of everybody will hate you. I tried to do that for a long time. But I really got into the facts recently and made my own conclusions from them. It's SO hard to find unbiased sources, but they're out there. Don't be fooled by the media. You're in a pretty good position to get anywhere you want if you haven't pissed anybody off. Unfortunately I got too into politics as much as I resisted. In answer to your last question, there isn't much wrong with being a democrat, we do need balance, however I think that at this point in time they are really hurting our nation. No offense to anyone, I've just read up on the facts and have landed hard in conservative land. Not to say there aren't psychos on both sides cuz there are. For now, I'd stick with moderate, which is pretty hard if you've grown up with an influence like I have, but read up, not from the NY Times or other heavily slanted liberal rantings, but find out the truth, and make your own conclusions. Good luck :)

Nothing wrong with that. About 40% of the population is democrat while approx another 40% are republican, the other 20% are "other". Nothing wrong with supporting the party with which you agree the most.
To find out which candidate you most agree with take this test:

it's not wrong to refuse to identify yourself with a specific party. not wrong at all. now, why is it wrong to be a democrat? because anyone who is in a position of power or seeking a position of power and does not intend to use that power for the advancement of freedom for the people is a piece of garbage. democrats will try to lure your vote by promising to do things for you, but remember, the government can't do anything for you without taking from others. it is 100% dependent on taxpayer dollars, and the more money it uses the less freedom others have to do what they would like to do with their money or their lives. anytime you are picking a side on a particular issue, ask yourself "does this advance or restrict freedom?". if it doesn't advance, chances are really good that it's a bad idea.

There is nothing wrong with being an Independent. The parties and candidates should have to earn your vote each and every time.

The only advantage to declaring a party is you get to vote in the primary election.

I thought the democrats would fit my views better but since they have taken over they have been a real disappointment, You don't have to join any party.

It's not only not wrong, it's a good idea.
Too bad whichever party you settle on won't matter as the country isn't run by the people we vote for.

it's all about your opinion, i am only 14 so i am to young to vote, so i don't have a favorite party. it's your right not to be a member of the party's. make your own party. if you don't want to be in a party nobody can tell you can't, there is NOTHING saying you can't be your own party.
