My teacher heard my friend talking about this. She can't be emancipated, but finds it almost impossible to live with her parents. She wants to live independently,not to go wild, but to lead a semi peaceful life so she can get through high school. I'm writing sort of a speech about this, and I thought others opinions might help.

As soon as she can support herself without her parents help she is emancipated.

Most States put emancipation at age 18 because this is the time people should be able to accept responsibility. Other problems include not being able to enter into legal contracts until this age.

Yes I think it should be lowered because if a child wanted to still stay because they felt they weren't ready they could. I'm not saying anything else should be lowered...well maybe getting your permit sooner but not license. There are a lot of responsible kids if only you'd give them the chance...
