people have no clue how oil and gas companies work and how bad the government distorts and massages their messages to the public. Mostly its done for class warfare. the evil corrupt corrporations that we want to tax except it never works the way they say. I tried multiple times to post the way things are with regards to the oil and gas industry but the people here are so ingrained to think its the mean corporations that are destroying the society. How many here do you think even know that the SEC concluded there was ZERO chance the oil companies gouged gas prices after Katrina. Worse that that how many of them think the Evil conservatives payed off or own the SEC and wont let them report the truth that they know oil companies did. Its sad how little people are willing to look up what really goes on and just spout party lines for political points and more seats. all the while supporting things that in the long run will make costs and dependency worse in this country.

lets see the oil companies pump the oil out of the ground, then deside the price then sell it back to themselves and then we pay the price then we are taxed by our govt that we elected. ...... im complaining about the whole thing.

The gas tax has little to do with the way our roads are fixed and built. I should know this , our gas tax is what 40 cents a gallon and we have more damaged roads and unfinished roads than most of the nation. OUR road are managed by private companies or not at all in oklahoma.

taxes on gasoline pay for all the roads and bridges you drive on...without a gas tax, there would be only dirt roads and no bridges. Do you realize that oil is used to make pavement as well and if the price of fuel goes up, the price of making it does as well...they use oil driven vehicles to move earth and to drive their machines...People are driving a lot less lately and the revenues are shrinking...if you want roads you will have to pay for them...Me, I'm fine with less roads, I don't drive over many bridges, have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, and I don't live in an asphalt jungle with all the traffic...

I don't know but I do. Florida has removed taxes to help out in bad financial times. This is why they don't care how high the price of gas goes.

Yeah because those evil gas companies make about 10 cents profit per gallon and the government has zero costs for the price of a gallon of gas and averages well over 40 cents a gallon profit.

Because those taxes are supposed to be used to maintain roadways.
